      That’s a good question and smarter approach for optimizing a WordPress Theme, all you need to do there is create a folder and name it as, currentThemeName-child and within that you will need 2 files (at least)

      1 = functions.php and style.css (its the style.css with some details of the child theme that is needed) then, you can optimize the functions.php without losing the inserted code on theme update

    • Arrow Edge says:

      can I create a functions.php inside my child theme and place this code inside it instead of changing the main theme ? Do I need php tags if I have to place it inside the child theme”s funtion.php ? I will share and email you.

    • RankYa says:

      This below code can be placed within functions.php

      add_action(‘get_header’, ‘start_ob’);
      add_action(‘wp_head’, ‘end_ob’, 999);
      function start_ob() {
      ob_start(‘remove_yoast’);
      }
      function end_ob() {
      ob_end_flush();
      }
      function remove_yoast($output) {
      if (defined(‘WPSEO_VERSION’)) {
      $targets = array(
      ‘,
      ‘,

      );
      $output = str_ireplace($targets, ”, $output);
      $output = trim($output);
      $output = preg_replace(‘/^[ t]*[rn]+/m’, ”, $output);
      }
      return $output;
      }

      It will remove this site is optimized by #Yoast #SEO Plugin notice for the free version, for premium version use:

      add_action(‘get_header’, ‘start_ob’);
      add_action(‘wp_head’, ‘end_ob’, 999);
      function start_ob() {
      ob_start(‘remove_yoast’);
      }
      function end_ob() {
      ob_end_flush();
      }
      function remove_yoast($output) {
      if (defined(‘WPSEO_VERSION’)) {
      $targets = array(
      ‘,
      ‘,

      );
      $output = str_ireplace($targets, ”, $output);
      $output = trim($output);

    Is setting up robots.txt important? Because I don’t have a robots.txt file. Do I need to create a new file and paste the sample content provided by you ? your link to sample WordPress robots.txt is not working, error= “That page can’t be found.”
